FAQ

1. WHEN AND WHERE IS HELD THE EDP MADRID WOMEN’S HALF MARATHON 2019?

THE EDP MADRID WOMEN’S HALF MARATHON 2019 will be held in Madrid on 27 October 2019 at 9.00 am. The start and the finish line will be placed at the same place, in el Paseo de Camoens (Parque del Oeste).

2. IS THERE ANY TIME LIMITATION TO COMPLETE THE RACE?

Yes. The maximum time to complete the marathon is 3 hours, so the finishing line will be closed at 12.00.

3.WHAT IS THE REGISTRATION PERIOD?

From 6 March 2019 to 23 October 2019 at 12:00H or while the 4000 entries last.

4. WHERE CAN I REGISTER?

In the official website, http://www.edpmediomaratondelamujer.es, registration section.

5. WHAT ARE THE CATEGORIES?

The following categories are established:

Individual categories:

  • Junior: Born in 2000 and 2001 (legal age the day of the race)
  • Promesa: Born from 1997 to 1999
  • Senior: Born from 1996 to Master category (35 years)

Master category:

  • V-35 from 35 years to 39 years
  • V-40 from 40 years to 44 years
  • V-45 from 45 years to 49 years
  • V-50 from 50 years to 54 years
  • V-55 from 55 years to 59 years
  • V-60 from 60 years to 64 years
  • V-65 from 65 years to 69 years
  • V-70 from 70 years to 74 years
  • V-75 more than 75 years
  • Disabled participant on wheelchair
  • Intellectually/mentally disabled participant
  • Mothers
  • Grandmothers

Teams:

  • Federated Team: The first three participants count toward the team and their times are added to a final result.
  • Enterprises with the maximum number or runners.
  • Teams with the maximum number or runners.
  • Two sisters
  • Mother and daughter

*The stated ages must be those of the date of the race.

6. WHERE AND WHEN ARE THE BIBS AND THE GOODY BAGS TO BE COLLECTED?

T-shirts, BIB number and runner’s bag are given at the Runner’s Expo of the fourth edition of the EDP Medio Maratón de la Mujer de Madrid 2019 will be held at the Mall “ABC Serrano” (Calle Serrano 61) on Saturday, October 26th, from 10 to 20 hours (uninterrupted). Bring your registration paper along with you to pick up the BIB number . Access is free for runners and accompanying persons.

7. WHAT DO I NEED TO COLLECT THE BIB AND THE GOODY BAG?

To collect their bibs, runners will have to show their registration receipt/copy of the registration and their Identity Card/Passport or other document that identifies them. To collect a runner's goody bag, the runner must show his or her bib.

If a runner cannot collect his or her bib, it may be collected by another person provided that they have the registration receipt or a copy of the registration and a photocopy of the runner's Identity Card and an authorisation signed by that runner.

No bibs or goody bags will be handed out on the day of the race.

8. WHAT DOES A RUNNER'S GOODY BAG CONTAIN?

A runner's goody bag contains the EDP Madrid Women’s Half Marathon T-shirt, official guide to the event, AIMS magazine, and several promotional gifts of the Half Marathon sponsors.

9. WHAT KIND OF CHIP IS USED AND WHEN IS IT DELIVERED?

The chip of the 4th Madrid Women’s Half Marathon will be a bib-chip, i.e. the bib comes with the chip already placed on its back. The chip must not be returned at the end of the race.

10. IS IT MANDATORY TO FILL IN ALL THE DATA ON THE BACK OF THE BIB?

Yes. In the event of a medical emergency, such data will facilitate rapid and efficient action in case of allergies, illnesses or to promptly warn a family member or someone you know.

11. IS THERE BAGGAGE/CLOAKROOM SERVICE AVAILABLE?

Yes. The Organisation will provide a baggage/cloakroom service in vans. It will be located in Paseo de Camoens.

12. ARE THERE WCs? WHERE WILL THEY BE LOCATED?

Yes. The Organisation will make available portable toilets. They will be located in the start and finish areas.

13. WHERE WILL THE ENERGY STATIONS BE LOCATED?

There will be energy stations with water and isotonic drinks at the following points on the course:

  • KM 5: Located on left side of the road. Water.
  • KM 10: Located on right side of the road. Water.
  • KM 14: Located on right side of the road. Water, gels and isotonic drinks.
  • Km 18.5: Located on right side of the road. , Water, gels, isotonic drinks and solid food.
  • FINISHING LINE: Water, isotonic drinks and solid food. There will be a first aid station and portable toilets.

Important:

  • The food and hydration stations will be sized to handle the 4,000 Half Marathon runners. Drinks/food will be set out on large numbers of tables. Runners are asked not to take the drinks/food from the first few tables in order to prevent a jam in the area.

14. SHOULD I READ THE RACE RULES?

Yes. All participants must know and comply with the rules of the Half Marathon. Ignorance of the rules does not exempt runners from compliance.

15. COULD SOMEONE ACCOMPANY ME ON A BIKE DURING THE RACE?

It is completely prohibited to follow the runners on a motorbike or a bike and the Local Police has express requirement to take off the course any person who does not comply with this rule, in order to avoid any accident involving the runners, the spectators or the organization members.

16. ARE THERE STARTING BOXES?

Yes. There will be starting boxes for ELITE times, Sub 1h30’, Sub 1h45’, Sub 2h y Over 2h . In order to access the starting boxes, runners must communicate to the Organisation at the time of registering the box he or she wants to opt to and his or her personal time accreditation, that must be equal or less to the time of the box she wants to opt to (only times achieved in the last 2 years in approved Half-Marathon and 10K races will be valid).

  • Box A: Sub 1h30’
  • Box B: Sub 1h45’
  • Box C: Sub 2h
  • Box D: Over 2h

17.ARE THERE PACEMAKERS?

Yes. There will be pacemakers for the following times: 1:35 h., 1:45 h., 2:00 h, 2:15 h. and 2:30 h. They will be at the front of the corresponding boxes depending the time to achieve and they will be identified with a balloon and a customised bib number.
